Airbus Defence and Space has been using Orekit for several years. They have contributed to the discussions on the Orekit mailing lists and provided bug reports and comments for a long time.
In the true spirit of open-source, they have decided to go one step further and to contribute directly code to the project.
Their first (and big) contribution has been merged today in the official codebase. This contribution started as a discussion on the developers list, followed by a poll on the users list to check which option among several proposals was better from users point of view. Then Yannick’s team provided a set of patches implementing the selected solution, and it was merged today after review by the existing committers.
CS Group is happy, together with the Orekit PMC, to see the community expand.
